That's the important thing I guess. So I thought I'd at least post up the results of the first bowl through it. Loaded it up with Connoisseur's Choice when I got home and it smokes beautifully. The stem seems a little "beefier" than my other Petes, but I think it's nice so at least it's a good pipe even if it's not truly Irish LOL.
This was my response to that email:Dear Sir
It is some time since we used “Made in the Republic of Ireland” circa 10 years. We now use a different stamp i.e. “Peterson of Dublin”.
We hope this information is of help.
Kind regards
Angela Fortune
And then her immediate (like within a minute) reponse:Angela,
Thank you for your response! The pipe I referenced in my previous email also does not have the referenced “Peterson of Dublin” stamp. The markings on the pipe itself are “Peterson System” then “303” on the other side, and the collar is marked with the familiar “K&P Peterson” stamp. The reason that I press the point is that there are rumors on the internet that this line of pipe is no longer produced in Ireland. While the pipe is a fine smoker, I would be interested to know so that in the future I may make a little more substantial investment in a line I know is produced in at your location.
Thanks again and have a great day!
I feel better, how about you guys?Dear Mr. Manning
Please rest assured that all of our pipes are made here in the factory in Sallynoggin.
Kind regards

Sirs:
I am a great devotee of Peterson pipes. I own and enjoy many examples, some purchased new, some treasured estate pipes. I am no cold-pipe collector; all of my pipes see use and several of my Peterson pipes are my very “best smokers.” In addition, my den contains a good variety of Peterson accoutrements. Come Father’s Day or Christmas morning, my wife and sons know they can never go wrong with the gift of a Peterson pipe or accessory.
Besides being inherently fine pipes, and usually a very good value as well, it is the “Irish-ness” of my Petes that appeals greatly to me. Don’t let the last name fool you; nearly all my ancestors were from Ireland, and came to the US fleeing, or in the aftermath of, An Gorta Mor, here to make their fortunes and raise the succeeding generations, of which I am a proud member. I consider Peterson pipes a reflection and celebration of a treasured Irish heritage.
So you might imagine my dismay when I heard of a rumor, now well filtered through the Internet, that at least some Peterson pipes are being manufactured elsewhere, particularly in France. And while I bear the French no ill-will, and even own and enjoy some French pipes, I confess that I want my Irish pipes to be Irish.
Now I know full well that any rumor – most of all that virulent sub-species found on the Internet – is likely to be unreliable. So I am writing directly to you in hopes you can put the issue to rest in a definitive way. Can you confirm that Peterson pipes are made in Ireland? Can you advise if all aspect of the manufacture occur there (with the obvious exception that the briar must certainly be imported from elsewhere)?
Thank you in advance for your kind attention to my concern.
Basically the same thing Kabong got and a bit of a stock answer that does not directly address herbinedave's information.Dear Mr. Kuntz
Please rest assured that all Peterson pipes are made here at our factory in Sallynoggin.
Thank you for your email and your continued support, it is very much appreciated.
Kind regards
