hello there,
i tought about making my first pipe and now i was wondering what wood i shall youse i heard things like briar and osage orange or ebony ??
would love your feedback

Be careful with some woods. Some are toxic or cause reactions in various degrees. Ebony is one on the list. Also some exotic woods are really dense and heavy.
Yeh, I wouldn't use ebony at all. One time I was sanding ebony, and my eyes and sinuses started burning and oozing mucus like I was hit in the face with mace. The doctor told me that the wood is a lot like mace. I can't imagine how painful it would be to smoke out of it.

Most of the Ropp pipes with the bark on 'em were cherry, they seem to hold up pretty well.
My great grand father used to carve cherry pipes for himself. My grandmother used to tell me that he always made his look like it had a snake wrapped around it. We don't have any of his though. Apparently, he would just throw them away when they got too dirty.

oh good to know that ebony is toxic thanks , what should i make the mouthpiece from then

Im by far no expert but I think any flavor profile added by the type of wood is quickly minimized by heat, carbon and tar.
