So I was working on cavaliers last yr for the KC pipe show. I was not able to finish them in time for the show at the quality I wanted out of em. 1st one is almost done, 3 more to go. 1 of these I will keep for myself as I think it should be a great smoker even if a little odd although they have really grown on me....lol.
Still plenty of detail work to do as well as waxing but its looking pretty good IMO....

I love the pipe you made for me - smoked it today in fact. I hope this one smokes as well as it does.

Ultra-unique. Caveliers always look a little too dramatic for me, but this one I'd smoke.

They took a little bit to grow on me. Although I am really interested in seeing how one smokes so I am keeping one of the 4 and probably the next one I work on as I dropped it and it has a nick so I will keep that one. Just seems like they would smoke really dry. I am curious to find out.

Well got er done........not optimistic on selling it though. Its a "different" pipe for sure. I do think a Cav pipe will be a nice smoker.

Finish is ebonizing. You take wine tannins and brush it on lightly. Does not take much. Once that dries you take vinegar that has steel wool soaking in it. The steel wool breaks down and the solution is applied on the briar. Gives a nice deep black. And since it is a chemical process you can add other dyes and it will not react like it would if you had black dye that did not set all the way. I like how it looks
