Ya, I think we all lose sight of that fact -- much to the chagrin of tobacco snobs. My point was that natural tobaccos, not necessarily "pure", don't taste like tutti-frutti or coconut. (Also, aro's demand better technique to avoid bite; and I think a lot of newbie's give up because of bite.)
re: Hauntedmyst's observation: If the anti's have their way, then everyone will die before they complete 1 year of pipe smoking. :lol:

Congratulations buck. I'm glad to see that you're exploring the non-aromatics, there are some incredible blends out there. I'd suggest trying some of the McClelland tins. They're probably best known for the Frog Morton series, but they have some blends that are IMO even better. Be sure to try their Green Label Orientals and their Blakeneys Best.

I think your progression from aromatics to non-aros, and Latakias is a common tale. It is similar to my own.
It's fun trying a lot of different tobaccos and finding new favorites, and then once in a while going back to a good quality aromatic too.
