Is there a quick guide to what doesn't cellar well? I was reading on the review page about tobacco XX not aging well.
I understand that certain batches will age better, and that certain companies uses better tobacco... still, do cavendishes not age that well, or do aro's putter out after 10 years? I read that VA's peak at 10 or so, but can hold forever. Everything else is a big ??
So as I approach this 15% sale at P&C in both the Lane and McClelland bulk sections I am left thinking, " What types (not brands) of tobacco age better?
Thanks!

I think rothnh explained that pretty well.

I don't like to have a lot of aro's at one time as I don't typically smoke them enough, so I don't want them to loose any quality over time. With my aro's I usually only get enough to last me a short time and then when I'm out of a particular blend I'll buy another tin at that time. I don't buy aro's to cellar.

Roth has it down. Virginia tobaccos are the ones that change the most over time, due to their high natural sugar content. Blends that are based on other tobaccos will change based on the percentage and quality of the Virginias used.

Aros are really intended to be smoked now.

I don't cellar aromatics to age them, I cellar aromatics as a hedge against the looming tobacco tax. I have 3 pounds of Captain Black Dark in pouches purchased in the Pipes and Cigars 1/2 price sale that will outlast me.

Thanks Roth!
It would seem to me that if your tobacco was kept in a cool, darker place it would age slower than in a hot or humid area. Just a thought.
