I dedicate only one pipe to a specific blend because of deer tongue in it. The rest I just load up and smoke. You'll be fine crossing over. Enjoy and happy smoke rings.

J, I can say that I have gone the reverse & have gone from English to aro. I think with proper cleaning one can switch. It may take a very thorough deghosting proceedure depending on the aro you have been puffin on. Salt & alcohol treatment perhaps.

yeah none of those are real heavy English... you should be fine... after a few bowls should get the ghosting out of them... especially since you just started a few weeks back.
That Penzance is a hard one to find... might want to hold on to that one... if you want you can send it my way for safe keeping :P

js, the luxury bullseye is a vaper flake and the Dunhill Flake is a Virginia. Turning an aro pipe into an english is no problem, shouldn't take much to get that ghost out, the other way around is more difficult to get out in my opinion.

I have never had any problems switching between blends with any of my pipes. I have noticed if I smoke a pretty stout blend that the taste will stay in the bowl for a little while. But other than that I can switch between the two with no problems. Sometimes I have to do a little extra cleaning to get the strong stuff out.

I'm an "any blend, any pipe" kinda guy.
+1. I've even mixed aros with an English's, often with positive results.
But I have 1792 on order and for that, I am going to use one of my least favorite pipes to test. And a full stomach. And a small bowl. :puffy:

I go back and forth all the time, I grab any pipe and fill it with any tobacco I feel like. I have never had a ghost ruin a smoking experiance.

Echoing what others have said, you're probably fine switching to some latakia/English blends, but I'd save a clean pipe for those Virginia tobaccos. I'd also save the Penzance for a clean pipe, too -- fantastic stuff and very hard to get.

I have re-dedicated several pipes without any problems.
I wouldn't worry too much about ghosting until you have learned to distinguish all the subtleties and nuances of flavor and are starting to do some serious reviews.
Latakia is the only thing that is really likely to ghost your pipe and even then it may not be such a bad thing. Who knows? You may even find that you enjoy some of the ghosts.
I'd suggest that until you have gained a good deal of experience and have a good number of pipes, just smoke and enjoy.
