I was hanging out with some friends and they were smoking cigarettes and I was really craving captain black regular. My other favorite is Lane 1Q. I've tried Vermont meat candy but get a real ashy taste to it. It's also been a while so I should see how it is now that it's had a few months.

As I'm kind of new to pipe smoking I haven't tried many blends, but most of the tobaccos on my shelf are aros. Thus far, the tastiest and most flavorful of them is Lane's BCA. I've smoked this in my cob a few times and really enjoy it. I've also tried 1-Q, 7Seas Royal, and Larsen Signature, but I've found they pale in comparison to BCA in terms of coolness of smoke, flavor, and relighting issues. In fact, I've found the Larsen Signature to be the least flavorful of them all, which is surprising given the accolades it receives on tobacco reviews.com. I'm looking forward to trying others and most likely will update this post in a few weeks!

Peck,

I also bought Trout Stream, originally, to please my wife, as she is not a fan of pipe smoke. TS is, by far, her favorite. My 10 year old daughter is my smoking buddy, that is she is on the porch with me every evening when I have a bowl. Trout Stream, or as she calls it "Fishy Stream" is also her favorite which she requests quite frequently.

I still consider myself an aromatic guy, even though I've branched out into VaPers and Englishes big time in the last year or so. The best aromatics for me are Peterson Sunset Breeze, 1Q, and many of the 4noggins aromatics. I'm a fan of Lord Methley, and Killington, but Three Blind Moose is ridiculously good. Right now I'm having a 50/50 mix of Carter Hall and MacBaren Vanilla Cream Loose Cut. I'm not a fan of the CH on it's own, but mixed with the MacB it's so tasty.
I have unopened, untried tins of a lot of the blends mentioned in this thread that I've picked up during TAD moments that I'll get to eventually.

Brands I'd say Lane Limited, Mac Baren, Peterson, McClelland, Peter Stokkebye,, or CAO.
My go to aromatic is Lane Limited's 1Q.
As for suggestions:
Lane Limited- 1Q, BC-A, RLP-6, Black Raspberry
Mac Baren- Any of the Seven Seas line, plus Honey & Chocolate, Vanilla Cream (prefer flake over loose cut), and Original Choice
Peterson- Sunset Breeze, Connoisseur's Choice, Nutty Cut, Gold Blend, and De Luxe Mixture (also the yearly offerings like Special Reserve, Summertime, and Holiday Season are very good aromatics)
McClelland- The Premium Aromatics line is very good as well as most of their bulk aromatics
Peter Stokkebye- I enjoyed his Nougat and Cinnamon blends
CAO- I've really enjoyed Moontrance and Eileen's Dream (smoking Eileen's Dream as I type this) and I've heard good things about Bella Vanilla and Cherry Bomb.

Wow guys so many new aro's to try. I just wrote down a big list of new tobacco I want to try and when I have some money I'll be ordering some new blends. I'm really excited to try some of these.
Thanks guys for your opinions!

Peterson's Connoisseur's Choice, Lane's 1Q, Dan's Blue Note. Also, my local B&M bags up some Lane blend that the call "Closest to Captain Black." I need to ask what it is, because it has become the closest to what I would call my "go-to" blend.
Anyone tried Altadis Z50 Black Cordial? I've heard it is a nice, quality aro.
Peace,

Bill
P.S. "I don't usually smoke aromatic blends." or "I'm not really an aro smoker," seem to be such common phrases that maybe we could give the idea an acronym. It would save some space on the forum. Example: IDUSAB, but I will occasionally smoke a bowl of 1Q, or, "INRAAS, but I sometimes smoke me around the wife..." Yeah, probably not. Brian did rant on acronyms and abbreviations once on the radio show once, if memory serves, so I guess we will just have to stick with the full phrase. Hey... Just trying to help. :D

The only aro I've had so far that I haven't been overly fond of was C&D Autumn Evening. Just a bit *too* sweet for me. Or maybe I just wasn't in the mood and didn't know it. I'll have to give it another go.
Other than that, I've liked every one I've tried. Currently I've been on a Firedance by CAO kick.
