Advert Frequency

Anyone else noticing that the frequency of the pop up ads has increased? I know ads need to exist to support these forums but but over the past few days it’s become a bit much. I.e. everytime I visit a new page: advert. Scrolling through a long post like the WAYS: multiple pop ups within seconds.

Anyways not sure if this is a glitch or intentional but thought I’d mention it.

Edit: this is occurring on my mobile device if that matters.

I've never seen a pop up ad on this forum, laptop nor iPhone. You may have a virus.

I've never experienced pop-up ads on here, whether on mobile or desktop. Just the regular ones on the side/top of the window.

Nonzero chance but doubtful. I posted a pic of the pop up I get. I’ve always had these pop up but not as frequently as lately.

I use this site on an iMac, iPad and iPhone and I've never seen a pop up ad on any of my devices.

Huh weird. I don’t see them when I’m on desktop but I do on Firefox mobile on my iOS 16. Saw them on my prior iPhone as well. Weird.

I think that you are accidentally hitting the ads as you scroll, making the image "pop up" as an isolated image. This is not supposed to be an actual pop up ad, IMO. This happens to me on a game I play sometimes on my phone.

That’s where I’m going with my thoughts as well. after looking at them it isn’t an advert, it’s a video and since I have my browser settings to block pop up ads and autoplay videos is turned off, I suspect you’re right. I need to figure out what I’m swiping on.

which is why it never was a concern until it started popping up so frequently. Not sure why it seems like I’m the only one getting them lol

Honestly, I have no idea, except for my guess that you may be hitting it when scrolling. I've never seen a pop up on here, and I practically live here.

Well @cosmicfolklore and @Sig per the thread I linked to the ad does exist and was discussed in late 2023 so I dunno what the deal is lol
