Adjusting Artisan Pipes

I never paid attention to the top rim, because most all of the pipes I own have a flat rim.
Truthfully, I don't care for the uneven blasted rim.
I'm very glad you mentioned it because Rad is making a pipe for me and I must email him and let him know

It's funny, but I really appreciate the blasted rim on my Ashton. It's a Pebble Grain, so it's almost black anyway. The usual rim darkening isn't noticeable that way and I kind of like that.
With a lighter finish, though, I can sympathize with the desire for a smooth rim.

I have a mix of polished and blasted rims and agree, I like some where I don't have to worry about rim damage. I like a mix on my racks (although my Ashton Poker polished rim is one of my favorites).

Al, is yours a pebble grain? I've seen a few of those and they're actually quite nice looking with the smooth rim.
