"Active User" Issue

Well, for some days now I've had this problem on the forum. All of a sudden the following message appears:



And then I can't interact with the page—Like button, notifications button, &c.—unless I refresh it as it says there or I click on the Forums link atop to navigate away to the forums list. I am also getting messages atop the browsing area that there was a problem with the page and it needs to be reloaded or something.

What's this all about?

Could be a problem with the notifications on the page not refreshing.

Firefox here, no issues.
You may want to update Firefox (and or clear your cookies)

Ok, here's what happens if I try to click on the notifications bell when that message I posted a screenshot above is displayed:



Which forces me to hit F5, of course, as nothing else will work on the page.
