Has anyone got a meerschaum pipe with an acrylic spigot stem? I have a vintage SMS with one and wonder how durable it will be

I don’t have one, but I’d think the meerschaum shank would crack before you ever snapped off an acrylic tenon, if that’s what you mean.

should last forever the acrylic ferrule and stem should wear next to zero.. just don't jack around on it or lever the stem side to side.

If that meerschaum is Ted Kennedy then it's quite fitting as neither like getting wet.
You can tell from the drilling that the shot came from the grassy knoll.

Looks like the stummel end fitting screws into the block.
If you hold onto just the plastic when you remove or insert the stem you’ll avoid making the meerschaum react the load. Cheap insurance.
I believe that you should commit to achieving the goal, before the decade is out, of smoking every C&D blend and returning the pipe safely to its rack.

Good advice above. I somehow stumble over acrylic and vintage for the same pipe.
Nice pipe! Hope both woods expand and contract at the same rate. That's literally... a "stack" pipe.

I really like these military bits with the acrylic ferrule. The common vintage Pioneer gourd calabashes have them. In my experience, those stay put very well.
