I'm the wrong type of doctor for this but I have heard allergies can develop or disappear with age. Take a few weeks off and start slowly again to see if that helps. Like a reset.
Laid off alcohol for a long time. Still have some nice bourbons and try a pour every once in a while and it’s a still strong no go.I'm the wrong type of doctor for this but I have heard allergies can develop or disappear with age. I took Lisinopril for high blood pressure for decades; then I developed a terrible rash which the doctor said was due to the lisinopril. At first I didn't believe it, I didn't think it possible; but sure enough once I stopped taking lisinopril the rash was gone...This will be a somewhat unusual question.
In the past, I drank alcohol and never had any issues. A few years ago, I developed an allergy to alcohol. This was not alcohol intolerance, but an actual allergy. It was severe enough that I cannot drink anymore. Asked the doctor about it, they shrugged their shoulder and said humph.... I studied the components of different spirits and the allergens within, but despite which ones I consumed made no difference; still the same reaction.
Now, it appears I am developing an allergy to any pipe tobacco that I smoke. I am starting to have this same type of reaction to all pipe tobaccos I have been smoking lately, despite it being my routine smoking tobacco, which has never given me any issues.
I am hoping I am not developing an allergy like I did in the case of alcohol. Sadly, it appears as of now, it is the same type of allergic reaction. Doesn't matter which one I am smoking, same reaction.
I know the body changes over the years. A long time ago, I was allergic to cats; now I am not allergic to cats. I am curious about other people's allergies to, perhaps, smoking pipe tobacco......
Has anyone ever developed an allergy to alcohol or pipe tobacco?
I feel for you. Hope everything works out. I'll pray for you buddy.Laid off alcohol for a long time. Still have some nice bourbons and try a pour every once in a while and it’s a still strong no go.
Saddens me to think this may happen with pipe smoking too.
Hitting the nail on the head there.Sorry you’re going through this! Hope you get it solved, you’ve got way to much cobblestone hiking to give up smoking!
I think they bite a bit. Or is that scratch?Have you tried smoking a cat?
Next time the opportunity presents itself I will have to try.Well, you were allergic to cats, but now you're not. Have you tried smoking a cat? I hear they require a lot of relights.
Gives a whole new meaning to 'smoking hot pussy'Next time the opportunity presents itself I will have to try.
I learned very young I inherited an allergy to Hops ... I have only tasted Beer 7 times in my life and while I like the taste I never drink it. Even an ounce causes a reaction next or second day. No issues with other spirits. Also I have a reaction to the higher nitrate levels in Burley tobacco ,,, the smallest amount causes a chemical burn in my mouth.I am curious about other people's allergies to, perhaps, smoking pipe tobacco......
I’d settle for a chemical burn vs what it’s currently doing to me.I learned very young I inherited an allergy to Hops ... Actually thought I was being poisoned…..Did your wife put a spell on you? Haha
