I will try to rephrase, You asked "what is a Well pipe" I said your well pipe is based on the Peterson System, and that several companies made pipes that were similar to how the Peterson System Standard is made, including Savinelli, Kaywoodie and WDC. Savinelli called their version the Dry System, WDC called their version the Wellington, and Kaywoodie called theirs the Chesterfield. Kashmir was describing the construction of the pipe and how it works, which is to collect moisture, and could cause a problem for a new pipe smoker. Kashmir was giving you very good advice on what you may want to do, as far as getting another pipe, and tobacco suggestions that you may want to try, along with all the other good advice that has been posted. Just keep trying. :puffy:

Wow, Vic, I was going to suggest this link in the forums: http://pipesmagazine.com/python/pipe-smoking/tobacco-pipe-packing-methods/ for you.
But, you've gotten the good stuff here from a lot of folks, including Kevin, the Boss, Harris, Kashmir and the video links from fitzy.
You should be good to go.
And, oh, yes, welcome. You found the best pipes and tobacco forum on the planet.
