Damn, are we going to manage to finish all those tins we have purchased before we die
That is one of Peck's most serious concerns in life and it keeps him awake at nights worrying about the mere and very pitiful 676 lbs. of tobacco that he has left in his cellar. I think it only proper that we all take a moment to bow our heads and say a small prayer that his meager collection will last him until he passes away and be thankful for the abundance of what we have. Bottom line... anytime you think you have it bad just think of poor 'ol Peck.

Compared to that I have only 14 unopened and 5 opened tins. Peck is not going to live for 69 years and 9 months from now on, none of us will actually. So Peck has to organize a tobacco party and invite everyone including people from overseas (no need to buy the ticket). Maybe then we can reduce that smoking time to 60 years.

I'll be sure to light a prayer candle for him today.

I normally have at least 20 tins and 3 or 4 bulks open at the same time. I have no idea how long it takes me to go through a tin. I smoke around 10 pounds a year so I built up a 25 year supply to cover me against draconian taxes and certian blends going the way of the dodo.

@cigrmaster, since I am not living in the States, can you please tell me more about the taxes? I mean is there going to be a huge price increase or so? Recently everyone is talking about tobacco taxes. I am not living there but I am supplying my tobacco from there. We had a devaluation in the country recently so I still suffer a lot while buying the tobacco with the USD. $10 tin cost me 7.8 units with the local currency, now it is 16 units. If we are waiting for an increase, then I will start stocking up as well.

jvnshr, in my state of Florida we have an 85% wholesale tax on pipe tobacco which makes a 9.00 tin I can buy on line 22 bucks locally. This is just one state and there others out there who also have draconian taxes on pipe tobacco. Now there has been talk about banning internet sales of tobacco which would force eveyone to pay what the local taxes are. There is also talk about the FDA banning certain flavorings in pipe tobacco which would make many brands get discontinued. So there are a number of bad things that could happen.

This is one of the most supportive communities you'll find, in my humble opinion. They are especially helpful with PAD and TAD, encouraging all along the way.
As for cellar envy, Peck is at the top of the food chain. Harris not far behind.
My plan is to outlive my cellar, which is more than 200 pounds at the moment. I continue to add to the stockpile, in hopes that if and when the tobaccolypse hits, I'll be prepared, but not quite as well as Peck, who is my TAD and PAD hero.

@cigrmaster, thanks a lot for the information. I read all the time about high taxes that are applied to B&Ms, I was more curious about online suppliers. Banning online sales of tobacco is the thing I am afraid of. I guess I have to start the stocking process. The thing is I am a newbie so I don't know what to stock. Well, I have to open all the tins I have so I can taste and order more if I like :)

All of this has actually inspired me to sit down and calculate how much tobacco I would need for say the next 10 years. I had never given this a thought until now. Interesting !!
Jvnshr: I think it would be best if you take your time and find out what you really like, which in my experience takes time, and then start to stock up. Oh, and hopefully you do not decide you must stock up something like Penzance, you might find it hard.

If I can help you all out that have too much tobacco and scared of moving on to the other side, with a large stash left behind, that a bereaved loved one will dump in a landfill. The US postal services delivery goes right by house everyday. And if you want to take it with you, I can make special going away box for you. See my avatar!

jvnshr, I would suggest trying tobacco from these categories. If you find you like something from a particular category you can explore it further. Right now I would not begin to cellar until you have nailed down what you really like.

Dunhill Flake

Wessex Brigade Campaign Daek Flake
Virgini/Perique

Escudo

@cigrmaster, thanks a lot for the suggestions. Those directly go to my wish list.

I haven't tried Virginia blends and Vapers yet, although I have some unopened tins. I totally love English, especially Latakia blends. I prefer an aromatic with a good amount of nicotine and of course aroma shouldn't be chemical like but something natural.

I sometimes worry that I won't get to all the blends I haven't opened yet.
When this happens to me I find one or two Rye Manhattans eases my pain.

I started stocking up on VaPers and Virginia flakes and jarring them up. I just received an order that was 3.5 pounds of bulk, most is jarred and stashed away. When I have the spare funds I will repeat the order. Escudo tins, PS Luxury twist flake, Newminster #400 superior navy flake,Newminster #403 superior round flake and 8oz. of Dunhill EMP for bulk.

My problem is, for every one variety I try, I find two more I want to order and try. So while I'm trying to cellar deeper, I end up cellaring wider instead.
