The blast is kinda interesting as well, kind reminds me of Walt Cannoy's suede blasts in these pictures.
A significant part of the suede appearance is simply because the bowl is so big. (Because this pipe is so well proportioned it's impossible to tell from the pics how big it is without something for scale next to it. How big we talkin? A 2.7" x 1" chamber is what

And since the dimensional irregularities of a sandblasted surface are limited by the wood itself and therefore constant regardless of pipe size, blasts look craggier and deeper on small pipes, and shallower on large ones.
