Since I can't have tobacco shipped to me in this state I decided to go on a little road trip and pick up some tobacco. I didn't have anything specific in mind just bought stuff that sounded interesting or ones I've heard good things about. Was kind of curious about flakes as you'll see. I was wondering if any of you had experience with these tobaccos love it/hate it/meh whatnot.
Here's the list:

Peterson Irish Oak

W.O. Larsen Signature

SG Squadron Leader

SG Full Virginia Flake

SG Navy Flake

SG Black XX Finest Kendal Twist

Dunhill Flake

Dunhill Royal Yacht

Dan Tobacco Patriot Flake

Dan Tobacco Blue note

Sutliff Private Stock Great outdoors

Sutliff Private Stock Bosphorus Cruise

PS Balkan Sasieni

Howdy serge. Sorry for ya and the state of affairs you face in WA. Asshats.
Anyhoo... SL is the first Oriental forward blend that I tried and it was love at first smoke.

Did something rare in that I hadn't even finished my first 2oz sample when I went ahead and bought 2lbs.
I'm one o' those "philistines" that doesn't get FVF.

Fresh or aged(5years), moist, dry, mummy dust, flake, partially or fully rubbed out, every bowl configuration I cold come up with... just left me with big ol' "Is this all there is? whoopdie-do...."
Where didja go on your roadtrip?

Here's my opinions of the ones I've tried off your list:

Irish Oak is good but can be potent in the Vitamin N department so smoke on a full stomach

SG SL was a decent smoke but It's no a regular in my rotation

SG FVF is good but I like it with some age on it. It is excellent if you add a tiny pinch of Perique.

Dan Blue Note was a nice aromatic but didn't have huge flavor for me.

Balkan Sasieni is an excellent latakia-forward blend. Probably the best in my book behind H&H Black House and McClelland Blue Mountain.

On to the W.O. Larsen... This blend in my 3rd favorite blend of all. It has wonderful flavors, excellent room and tin notes and is a steal in my book.

Squadron Leader is a favorite of mine. Very much the classic English.
I also really like Peterson Irish Oak, but be warned -- I have never smoked anything with a stronger nic kick -- including Cuban Montecristo Numero Dos cigars.

Squadron Leader is a top notch Latakia blend. Balkan Sasieni is one of my favorites. It is in my opinion a cross-over with some vanilla notes that are not mentioned by reviews that I have seen. I have a tin of Blue Note from Dan's but I don't care for it at all. I don't smoke a lot of aromatics.

Way to go, sergemoat. I'm envious.
When a number of members here rave about a particular blend, I ask the Tinderbox to order me some. So far they have been very helpful. I have a tin of Hadddo's Delight on the way now.
I haven't tried any of the bends you picked up yet. Please let us know what you think of them as you try them.

I drove down to Portland to pick up most of them(82nd ave Pipe and Tobacco). The two Sutliff blends I got locally.
So far I have only tried the Peterson Irish Oak and Sutliff Great Outdoors. The Irish Oak did have quite a bit of nicotine, very relaxing, had just a hint of oaky-woody flavor. The tin note on the Sutliff Great Outdoors was quite unique, it had a sort of effervescent wintergreen smell (reminded me of wint-o-green life savers). The smoke was quite enjoyable with its light vanilla flavor.
I really liked the SPC Plum Pudding I got at the Tinderbox so I'm looking forward to the Squadron Leader and Balkan Sasieni.
Jason, what are the number 1 and 2 on your list if the WO Larsen Signature is #3?

Well, since you asked, Numbers 1 & 2 are: Villiger 1888 Mid Day (like smoking toasted marshmallows and it's one a very few blend that I don't realize have reached the bottom) and Rattray's Bagpiper's Dream (it JUST beats out the W.O. Larsen Signature). These top three are my tops because they are the most consistently excellent performers in all of my blends. If I want a smoke that I KNOW I'll enjoy, I grab one of these. Many won't like them because they are aromatics, which is fine. I like lots of different blends and it's fine that they don't like them. More for me... Thanks!

I've had many (but not all) on your list. Nice representative mix of different 'baccy styles. You will really enjoy Patriot Flake - it's one of my favorite flakes (next to Dunhill Flake which is also on your list!)... Nice haul!

Looks like you have some fine relaxing smokes ahead of you!
SG Squadron Leader is next on my list of blends I want to try but haven't yet. I really enjoy their Grousemoor blend.
Dunhill Flake is one of my favourite smokes at the moment. I'd be interested to hear what you think of it?
