Watching TV last night I saw for the first time a commercial for a brand of e-cig/e-pipe.
How things have changed, no more hilarious & witty Condor adverts as they are not allowed anymore but instead we now seem to be getting dull adverts for a plastic tube and battery.
How times have changed :crying:
Regards,
Jay.

The only constant thing in life is change. What can we do? I like to keep an open mind. Doing so is less detrimental to my happiness. I am amazed about what people get sucked into by listening to advertisements. Most of what is advertized is nonsense and folks just can't wait to spend their hard earned dollars on it. Put something on the TV and people must have it.

I've tried one of these e cigarettes when I was quitting coffin nails. It's not for me. Someone is going to be breaking down a door for that e pipe though. That pipe has been around for a few years now. I've seen them before.

Strange thing is, now I wish I had more Condor!

BTW, UmmaGumma.

I am wholly against these e-ciggy things, I hope they put cancer in them, bloody hipster propoganda.

Since these things came out, the store across the street from mine has had a line out the door of people of all ages, creeds, and background. I don't even make the connection between hipster and e-cigs in any way fathom or scope. Might as well say all uses of black socks are a hipster thing.

Point taking Cosmic, I have a disdain for black or red sock flops, Mamma told me either to wear my tennis or argyle socks when in in proper company.

I'm pretty skeptical about technical devices unless they do something wonderful. E-cigs just strike me as jimcracks, doodads. I don't begrudge anyone that happiness, if that's what it is. Usually great innovation is staggeringly simple. Just think how long it took to put wheels on luggage. Now that's a breakthrough.

They aren't really my thing, but I don't mind them a bit. I'd definitely choose a vaporizer over cigarettes. The pipe beats out both of 'em but that goes without saying, really.
Additionally, I don't understand why they get lumped in as a "tobacco product." The nicotine is tobacco derived, but nicotine itself is hardly unique to tobacco. Lots of folks use nicotine-free liquid anyway. There seems to be a lot more of a scare surrounding them than there needs to be.

I use a backpack. When I quit smoking cigarettes I tried e-cigs. The problem with them is that one puff equals an entire cigarette. So it didn't seem the same. They were also really harsh on my throat.
I went with nicotine losenges.

My main point was that the once hilarious & clever Condor adverts (take a look at youtube...the submarine one is an all time classic as is the motorcycle & sidecar) are now banned only to be replaced by an extremely dull effort flogging off a piece of Chinese made crap.
I actually think the 'vaping' thing to be a fad with a limited life, rather like Facebook & Twitter.
Fluffie666, I believe it was actually Piper At The Gates Of Dawn though am not 100% certain.

Jay.

I used to smoke cigarettes when I was in my late teens and quit just after I turned 20. I wish there would've been e-cigs back then because it would've made quitting a lot easier. I have about half a dozen friends who have quit smoking using the e-cigs and it seems to be going pretty well.
I smoked for only four years, and that was difficult enough. I can't imagine what it must be like for a thirty year smoker.

I don't know how it is over there in US but here this e-cig thing is going crazy. There are shops specialised in selling only those all over town, and people can be seen walking out and about with one of them blowing this ridiculous amounts of smoke.
Now they have even models that keep count on how many puffs you have had, measure your heart rate and do all sorts of things. It's cool, a very clever businessmen have once again found a way to take people's money. As to the question of how healthy it is compared to the real thing. I guess time will tell. I'd rather quit smoking and start training for the olympics, than take up one of those toys.

I view them as missing out. Pipes combine a lack of negative health effects, full flavor, and a better way of absorbing Nicotine. Cigars are awesome too for the same reasons. But, why inhale icky sugar water when you can have a tasty pipe full of ... well, Royal Yacht?

1984 has arrived. Take two and everything will be OK. The whole idea of vaping is actions without consequences. Those of us who have been around a while know that's never the case. I too morn the loss of the creative tobacco advertising but nothing lasts forever. Big Government knows how to protect us from ourselves, so get in step!
