EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9)

I really like that this is a forum of words. On other forums, you see pictures of stuff with no words attached. Just pictures. A selfie or a pictourous setting. No words. No story.
I prefer reading to watching videos, I enjoy reading and re-reading posts and I enjoy the multitudes of info that can be put into a short, well written paragraph.
Let's keep it this way!

Sorry Workman my friend, I gave up halfway through your post as reading isn't really my thing. Could you make a short video that gives the gist of what you were saying?

I can appreciate the straight-forward simplicity of words, particularly in this day of constant in-your-face advertising pretty much everywhere you look, especially here in the U.S.

As an owner of older cars ,I especially treasure YTube Car repair related videos, much kudos to those folks who are taking their time and efforts in loading these helpful videos

Agreed. I have learned a lot about home repair, equipment maintenance, home improvements, etc. watching youtube videos. It's one of those instances where a picture (or video) really is worth 1,000 words.

I like visual media, though as you've noticed, I don't provide it on Forums. I will second the idea that having a written stream, as well as photos and video, is in some ways more personal and expressive, at least in some ways. Some people are just not writers. That's not the way they relate to people, although some of those are expansive and expressive talkers, and likely many of those are good listeners as well. But I do like the written exchange on here. You get to know people a little better, and some of the posts are information rich and highly informative. I don't like situations where people are just passing around material others have posted, recycling the same old stuff.

I totally agree. I don’t like that way of communicating, people posting pictures for a thumbs up. I would much rather carry on or partake in a good discussion. These forums are the way to go. I tried doing a Facebook pipe group at one time... I lasted two weeks as there was just no substance to it at all.. it was just a “look at me” type setting.

I think we've got a good mix here. I'd wager it's about 90% written word with the remaining 10 being made up of memes, video links and pictures.

in a weird way I think part of the reason this forum is more wordy is that we're not just interested in the hobby but also the other weirdos (yes we're a bunch of freaks, it's just a fact) who would take up such a hobby. I think some other hobbies people are more focused (in a forum at least) on the object of their obsession and not their fellow obsessives. I love video games but really have no interest in meeting or finding out about other gamers. So in a weird way I'am giving us all a compliment.
