MY wife and I saw "Larry Crowne" today. (I'd give it a B.)
Cedric the Entertainer play's Larry's neighbor and, in every scene, he is smoking a very nice full-bent Peterson. (Any doubt I had was resolved in a close-up -- you can see the P-lip.)
I'd say it was an Aran finish, but the Pete experts would know best.

Ben Cartwright in Bonanza also smoked a pete. But, I always wanted a pipe like Charles Ingalls smoked on Little House on the Prarie.

I mentioned a histroical inaccuracy in the movie Gettyburg dealing with pipe smoking in another thread. But Capt. Spear in the 20th Maine is seen smoking a system, the movie takes place before the System was created. Just a fun little bit I noticed

Maybe they thought all they neeeded to do was use any pipe, and no one would notice. Probably better than 99% of the people watching the movie did not notice. Good thing we have some aces paying attention! It is nice to notice something like that and realize that you are one of the few in the know.

It is because Peterson makes traditional pipe shapes that fit stereotypical images of pipe smokers, this is also one of the main reasons I personally think they make the quintessential pipe! Not because they give me a certain image of course, but because they are what I think a pipe should look like.

Vicky was startled and dang-near jumped off the couch the other night when I screamed;

"Hey! I got one of those!!!" 8)

From what I hear Cedric was smoking a 314 Peterson system pipe (the number could be off as there are many that are very similar and hard to tell from a glance). I'd say from the little bit I saw in the previews it looked rustic/sandblasted, but that's just a guess from the few seconds I saw it in the preview, haven't seen the movie yet. Great to see pipes in mainstream movies and getting popular again. I plan on getting a 314 system pipe myself. Might get it in a few different finishes. It's a great looking pipe.

Yes, it is. However in some movie that have pipes in them I have notice the actor isn't smoking it. I think a fun smoking game would be to watch a movie and every time a pipe shows up take a few puffs of straight latakia or some other strong tobaccos.
