I can’t smoke two consecutive bowls of the same tobacco let alone the same tobacco for years on end. But that’s just me. Smoke what you like.
I’m still laughing at @ashdigger post.

"It's really a personal thing and I wouldn't think being a "Seasoned Pipe Smoker" has a lot to do with it. I've been smoking a pipe for 50 yrs and don't think I could smoke just one blend. I am trying to reduce my blends to only 3 or 4 because I want to make things simple. "

I wouldn't be smoking a pipe if Latakia didn't exist.
That's interesting. I understand the love of Latakia...I love it too...but I also love many blends without it.
Your comment makes me wonder how many other pipe smokers would quit smoking altogether if they couldn't smoke Latakia.

I used to love heavy Latakia blends, but after a few years, got burnt out on them, and have not desired them since. If anything, the only lat blends I will smoke have just the tiniest amount far in the background.

Latakia and Dark Fired Kentucky Burley are, like Cigar Leaf, great as influences but hard to make work as main ingredients because they are so dominant, requiring fiddling around with toppings.
I can imagine that a smoker enjoying nothing but Royal Yacht for a few decades would not be unhappy.

Then that's quite an imagination you have there.

I must be doing this all wrong. I've been at it for over 30 years, and the open tobacco rotation just keeps getting bigger.
I'm moving in the next year, so I've been trying to simplify a number of things ahead of time, including the amount of tobacco I've got "open." I've got it narrowed down to 22 jarred tins and 5 open tubs! Progress ...

Ok, I get it. Nobody smokes one blend only. How about one type of tobacco (e.g english, or vaper or straight burley). Does anybody smoke only one type of tobacco, regardless of the brand ?

Me too, There are just so many variations on a theme. I find myself drawn to widely different flavor, flavour for you Canadians. profiles at different times. As a unrecronstructed Va guy, I find Dark Star with it's light sweet start and darker bolder finish very satisfying . But there is no perique, no orientals, no dark fired or Lat.
As magnificent as it is, it's just not enough.

I could smoke Royal Yacht, Brown Twist Sliced or Massacra for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy.

Dark Star? You forgot no nicotine, Jeff.
Dark Star has nicotine? I must have a very high tolerance.
I know a few people here smoke only one blend 98% of the time, but I ask: why? I only smoke a few at a time, I am finding that rotating between 3-5 blends now is enough for me, but I am currently drawing them from about 64 different blends at last count. Too many blends out there, so little time. Life is too short to limit oneself, that is what we have the FDA for.

As a former cigarette smoker I get the vast majority of nicotine from gum or lozenges. While I am sure I get a little from pipe tobacco,I smoke for the flavor.
That and fulfilling some primal need to control fire.
