I would tell you that any tobaccos that may have different alcohols as a way adding flavor do not contain any alcohol. The alcohol will evaporate off leaving behind any flavor they may have contained.
To answer your actual question, I would say no, I am pretty sure other then some preservatives to keep a long shelf life Captain Black White is all natural with nothing else added.
If you are concerned about alcohol being present at all, I would say to just stay away from Aromatics in general and you will be perfectly fine.

I do not believe it has alcohol unless it is in the vanilla extract that they dress up the tobacco with? Yet after googling propylene glycol that is added to many tobaccos it seems P/G has alcohol in it. I think Captain Black is cased with it? To avoid P/G might be hard with OTC tobacco?

I believe the alcohol in PG is a form of isopropanol which is a different alcohol than the kind you drink so it should not violate any religious traditions. Any ethanol used in the casings would burn off at 150°F and therefore smoking tobaccos cased in it would not be considered alcohol consumption as it burns at more than twice that amount.

Yea might not be that big of an issue with P/G but I am far from an expert on all Religions. Or how some religions view certain things such as alcohol, dancing and what not. What ever floats your boat but just putting out the info I found. Also welcome to the forums Yasen. :)

Neither am I but I've been going to shisha bars for years in Montreal and I always make the faux-pas of ordering alcohol at the Muslim owned places haha. It's confusing because the more "modern" places owned by white people make you buy a drink to get a shisha while the traditional places with Muslim owners don't serve alcohol because of their religion.

Nsfisher: the ones we tend to be more familiar with usually prohibit "addictive substances", which commonly include alcohol and tobacco. In certain religious interpretations, this would include caffeine (Church of LDS aka Mormon)
Islam is not that much different in that certain scholars interpret scripture and issue religious laws, called "fatwa". They will then advise on something as being "Haram" or forbidden versus "makruh", to be avoided. Within Islam are many strains, in which smoking would be considered either "haram" or not.
Just like in Christianity some would say smoking is forbidden (Mormons.. Assuming it's part of mainstream Christianity, but let's not go there) versus "to be avoided" (most Protestant) versus "not a big deal" (most Catholics... Or at least when I grew up)
So there's as much variety about what is forbidden within the different religions as there are interpretations within each.
Yasen could be a member of any religion allowing smoking, but not alcohol consumption.
Just keeps it fun for those interested in theology ;-)
And a very warm welcome to Yasen to the forum.

Welcome aboard Yasen. I don't know what is available to you, but the smokey Balkan type tobaccos are probably mostly free of alcohol casings. They can also be labeled as English blends. If you can find a tobacconist it would be helpful to select other things you might try.

LOL! See my signature below!!
By the by, there are/were many other reasons why Chesterton and I and others are Catholic. As an aside, my wife and I gave Father Joe a box of cigars for christmas this year. He can often be found on the back porch of the rectory with his pipe too!!
Father Tim has been posting here recently... I'm not sure he's Catholic tho... Episcopalian maybe?
Either way Yasen, Welcome aboard!

LOL wildcat.
Growing up, our priest smoked Bastos cigarettes.. it's like Camel, no filter. He also drank beer quite regularly, but beer is so much part of our culture, it would a be a revolution if they would put any restrictions on it. So imagine my surprise when I went to a Baptist church here in Dallas and was told you can't drink, can't smoke, etc... I nearly fell of my chair !
Anyways, I'm not going to turn this in a religious forum lest I be banned.... but it shows how different cultures, even within the same religion, can have different opinions and interpretations of behaviors such as alcohol and tobacco.

Many an evening have my wife and I have shared a glass or bottle of some sort of fermented beverage with the good father!! For years we were "anti" everything zealots... which means we smoked and drank in private!! LOL! We came to our senses (IMO) and realized "everything in moderation" is the more sensible approach and returned to the Catholic faith...
Better stop now before I get booted!!
