I have a birthday coming up. I was born in 1957. For 17 years of pipe smoking, I’ve thought about a birth year Dunhill. I am not a pipe collector. I am a pipe smoker. I own various pipes for no other reason than I like them. No particular pattern or thought process involved other than I think I will enjoy smoking them. This having been said, I have always wanted a birth year Dunhill, just because.

I don’t know where to start a search like this. My limited knowledge of the subject means I have to trust the source. I’m looking for something along the lines of a group 3 or 4, straight or slightly bent, billiard or bulldog, rusticated.

I would appreciate any advise or thoughts on where to start.

I got lucky and someone was selling an unsmoked one right here on the forum. Fell right into my lap. It is, of course, now smoked.

I have been searching for a specific birth year of my wife to compliment my own, and Iv just been using the typical google, etc searches. It’s a very specific and limited model in my case, which makes searches easy.

my best suggestion is to be like a woman over the age of 29. Buy a 20 year old Dunhill and claim that's your birth year.

The bad news... 1957 is a particularly scarce year

(no one knows why some Dunhill years are plentiful and others are rare, but dats da way it izz)

See this is the kind of information that should be provided with family planning from the doctor,
"...and you might want to think about waiting a little longer before you start trying since the briar cutters are still on strike, and the chances of your offspring lining up a nice selection of Dunhill shapes from this year are slim indeed!"

I watch EBay pretty closely. I’m not sure I’ve seen a ‘57. Or maybe it was one of the $800 pipes I ignored.
