I am often bemused by the bizarre happenings in crypto world. Recently a 'meme' coin called Fartcoin hit a market valuation of over one billion dollars and a couple of hundred million dollars of fart coin were changing hands every day. Last night I watching the 'Hitler Channel' or as it is called 'The History Channel' and they had a brilliant program on the drugs they gave the German soldiers during WW2 to keep them steam rolling through Europe. One of the drugs was called Pervitin which would best be described as a Nazi Meth pill. After the show I went of down a google rabbit hole reading about this crazy drug and came across this www.pervitin.io which obviously a joke but the back story is pretty funny and is an outright invitation for some very off color humor. It sort of summarizes my view on this meme coin craze although the part about the German version of ChatGPT had me in hysterics. Open disclosure I do not own any of this stuff and have very little idea how this stuff works but props to the guy who thought it up!

Where else could you post this but the humor thread...and no, it's not satire of course...it's just America in 2025.

That's just incredible. Remove the plank from our own eye first.

Considering the stated composition of the board is to include "people who experience mental illness" maybe that's not surprising.

"The Board’s Mental Health Advisory Council is comprised of people who experience mental illness and their family members, mental health providers, members of the public knowledgeable about mental illness, and attorneys."

I suppose that could be of some benefit, as long as they are in recovery and not denial.

Possibly...but I see no reason to assume the "identifying as a turtle" thing is being considered a mental illness here. For a number of years now a large segment of society has endorsed such things as normal and acceptable. We even had active military members in dog costumes.

And after all, there are continually things such as the below going on (and again, to me this is humor even though it's presented as completely serious):

SUNY professor explores ‘queer canine’ and ‘lesbian feminist cyborg politics’

According to the abstract, the paper offers a “queer lesbian feminist analysis” of “lesbian-queer-trans-canine relationalities” and “the interconnected queer becomings of people, nature, animals, and machines amidst ecologies of love and violence in the 2020s.”

“The entanglements of violence and love in these queer dog relationalities provide insights into the complexities of queer and lesbian feminist worldbuilding. Lesbian and queer feminist cyborg politics can help theorize the potentials and challenges of these interspecies entanglements,” Diamond-Lenow writes.

The professor argues that the government is using “dogs and robot dogs for radicalized and imperial violence.”

At the same time, “dogs help articulate queer gender, sexuality, and kinship formations, and as such, queer worlds for gender, sexual, and kin becomings,” according to the abstract.

There is of course, the furry community, which seems innocuous enough. Certainly, there appear to be those who have a position in academia that seems to depend on just how outlandish their work appears.

But then again there's Pizza gate.
