I know rural people that used to do that with trash that was compacted in their home trash-compactor-can, a few decades ago. Tape it up real nice, with a handle on it, leave it in the back of the pickup truck and go to town...

I actually know someone in Birmingham that put her used cat litter in an amazon box on her porch, and the thieves carry it away for her each time she empties it.
