EDIT: Fixed Capitalization and Shortened Title (See Rule 9) - Bob

OK, so I tried joining PM several years ago and just didn't "get" how to post/respond, what is current, what is too old to reply to, etc. So I am now attempting it again, at age 67, and again, this seems so VAST and confusing. Am I making too much out of it? I do reddit, and it's so easy to follow. Maybe this is as easy, can't tell. Can I just post a thought, or does every post have to relate to something? Thanks

When you click on the forum button, scroll all the way to the bottom to see the latest discussions. You can respond to any one of those discussions without being worried that it's too old to reply to.

I'm not a moderator or the owner of this forum, but I say just jump in and start posting thoughts. This community I have found is extremely helpful and the mods will also be around to help you put it in the right forums. So I suggest just pull up a chair, relax and make yourself at home. Welcome!

Clockdoctor, I'm a recent returnee after a brief hiatus and yes, the new site can be a little awkward to navigate but persevere, you will get there puffy

Good luck and best regards,

Jay.

Well the forum has undergone a major redesign a few months ago, and many members had some difficulty 'figuring it all out'. My advice is just to click on subforums and browse around. The more comfortable you are with the platform the easier it will be.

I just joined a guitar forum that uses a different platform, and this one is far superior to it.

At the top click “forums” then “new posts”. This will put the posts in order by newest posted first.

I was really trying to help... until...

But, I can't help someone if they can't explain the problem they are having. I mean, I guess I could start at the beginning. You obviously got registered, so the basic use of buttons and such, you understand.

You can obviously post a new thread. Do we need to start at replying? No, you seem to have that also.

You seem to understand as much as I do. Unless I am missing something. Seriously, what can we help you with?

I think maybe I can relate though. My wife took me to a Thai restaurant, and the menu was seeping in too many unfamiliar choices, noodles this way with five choices of stuff I had never heard of. I had no idea what to order. I don't even like the smell in the place.
I was frustrated, and totally out of my element. The server was no help either. She just kept asking me if I wanted things I had never heard of, I just giggled and shrugged, trying to keep some dignity and be positive. Might as well have been asking me, "Do you want some l;jv9q3ej with that?" I got pissed and just said, "bring me some fucking plain noodles." I probably wouldn't have eaten them, but at least I would have ordered something.
And, she was like, "would that be jnqeirojhqv9i noodles or pijh2wp`noodles?" I just dropped a five on the table and went out to wait in the car. I hate stupid restaurants.

Go for the Pad See Ew.
Even if I pointed to it on the menu, the server was insistent to ask me, "but, would you like h739jh%*$ with it, or lkjsdfci7$#?"

We had the same experience when my wife insisted that we eat at a Mongolian Grill where we were supposed to cook our own food. I had no idea what any of the weird spices and such were, much less, whether I wanted it on the dish I had no idea what it was to begin with. They just hand you a recipe card, and you have to make it yourself. The stupidest idea I have ever heard of. And, they refused to bring me a sandwich. When I dropped raw chicken into the huge wok thing the people manning it were tending, they just looked at me like I had horns on my head.

We have gone out to eat several times (especially Indian food), where I just say there and enjoyed the conversation, not touching the plate, only to stop by McDonalds on the way home, because I just didn't want to eat whatever it was that I had ordered.
