A Great First Year!

This is a meaningless post to everyone other than myself, but I just noticed that as of today..... it has been one full year since I joined this illustrious group. I can say with certainty that it has been the best group of forum members that I have been associated with. Everyone is informative, courteous, interested in the subject matter and patient with those who are less knowledgeable than others, on certain topics. In general, just a fine group of people. And, if you frequent other forums, you will know how rare that is.

Well, I don't want any of you to get a "swelled-head" or start blubberin' or anything, but thanks for a great first year.......

I am coming up on my one year anniversary here and I completely agree with your sentiment. This is the most welcoming and helpful community I've ever been a part of. Cigars, cars, music, sports, etc. There are good people in all these areas but they usually have a solid share of unhelpful, rude and obnoxious members.

On a related note, I joined a couple pipe pages on Reddit and they are the only Reddit pages I've ever seen where there is no toxicity whatsoever. The pipeselfies and PipeTobacco subs are both oases in a cesspool.

There should be a scientific study performed. Is it because we’re all in varying degrees sedated?

Can’t be nicotine because if there was a cigarette forum it’s would be anything goes.

Pipe smokers, as a whole, are quite civil.

I suppose it’s a shared personality trait. Akin to how CRAPS Players are the boisterous and loud bunch in a casino as opposed to those around the Baccarat Table. Win? Lose? Same composed look on their faces. Just calmly counting and sliding chips forward for the next flip of the cards.

Cheers mate! I agree though, pipers are generally the most composed and sedate group to be found on the internet. I don't even maintain/join other forums anymore and I've got alot (probably too many lol) other different hobbies. All it ends up being is 30% of the people calling you stupid, 30% telling you why they're better, and the other 40% screaming at you "THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED, USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION.. DERRRRR!!!"

Sure there will always be disagreements amongst people but in general this is a very chill space where nobody is really aiming to do anything more than enjoy themselves and share their love and ideas. Pipes are by their nature a cozy, comforting, delicate, nostalgic past-time which I believe very much self-regulates its practitioners/acolytes haha. Heck, look at the difference in our personalities vs. most cigar guys I think we pipers tend to be far more proudly "Type-B" as a rule of thumb.
