This is probably not the right place and if this violates any rules, I apologize, but I have to vent. Tonight I learned that a one of my best friends from high school... someone I've known over 30 years.. has been arrested for, and admitted to, some major criminal activity. I don't want to believe that this is true. Damn it all to hell. I'm going to be drinking heavily for the rest of the night.

That sucks Scrapy! People make bad decisions sometimes, and you never know where that will lead. It doesn't always mean they are bad people. I'm also a believer in the "you never know what someone is capable of " way of thinking. Sorry to hear about your friend.

Had a friend of mine that was a city cop, member of our church, and stand up guy..... so we all thought. Then he was caught stealing evidence (drugs) and sharing it with his 17yr old mistress. Some times you find out that your opinion of people is wrong. Sad, but true.

Tough news.
Do your best to "put it in perspective." Be a friend to his family and to yourself. For all the reasons we know, morals/ethics have lapsed in our self indulgent society. Rarely, if ever does someone get something for nothing. There is a price to be paid for almost all of our choices.
Stay strong and Happy Holiday.

Been there, and it sucks. My best friend in high school made one really bad decision and wrecked a lot of areas of his life. Sadly, we'd drifted enough that I didn't even have a way to contact him at the time, though we've since exchanged a few words (but nothing about "the incident", which he just wants to put behind him, I guess).

Depends on what he did, some things may not make him a bad person. Dumb but not bad. Live with the sword.....

Sorry Scrapy, it's never easy when people we care about let us down with their actions.

Can ya say what kind of crime it is, we do not know the person's name so it should be alright. Sorry to hear about that, most of my really good friends were all criminals at one time or another, I think the way it boils down is if you feel for a person, then he's your friend no matter what he does. Just be careful to not get dragged down with someone.

Been there. The big steaming pile is just beginning. Once you're in they keep heaping it on for a long time. I don't care what he did, I feel sorry for him. Their idea of punishment is what I call torture. NEVER ADMIT TO ANYTHING.

No excuses for this friend and his misdeeds. It is always difficult to know what sorts of pressures and weaknesses

others labor under, as it is difficult to know people entirely in any situation. It's a guide to try to do right in your

own life -- my own life -- even though we don't feel we are on the road to serious errors. We all have to work at

being the best we can, daily.

I have a friend that was living in the bottle, we all tried our best to keep him from making bad decisions and be there for his newly born son. He bounced back and forth between mine and his mother's house for months. He never got kicked out from anywhere but would leave when the "rules" got too tough. We all tried until the day he decided to drink and drive, run from the cops, resist arrest, and finally get sent to prison for a while because of the number of past DUI's. As hard as we try, we can't always keep others from making bad decisions
