I just finished my very first bowl bowl of C&D Billy Budd and I've got to admit that I'm in love. I've been smoking the house blends of my local tobacconist here in Topeka and have been pretty content with his offerings. However, one of my twins' friends came over last night to watch KU shut down Texas, and, being new to the pipe, he started asking questions and I shared damned near everything I've learned in my last 35 years.
This young man, at 18, has a wonderful pipe collection I covet. He's got a Peterson, Brebbia and a Ben Wade -Preben Holmes made Danish model that I'd kill for - and yet he didn't know how to properly sanitize an eBay purchase.
We talked shop, he ooh'ed and ahh'ed politley over my collection of pipes and tampers and then we talked tobacco. He brought out tins of Frog Morton and C&D that I'd read about but never sampled. We swapped baccy and promised to stay in touch.
Today I found out that my local tobacconist is starting a pipe club, ala the KCPC model, and, three days ago, I found a perfectly working model of the Beattie Jet Lighter. So life is good.
