Savinelli Brunello Flake. It's an actual Va/Bur/Or and a damned good one.
I had bought a couple tins based on your recommendation. In addition I bought a tin from 2014 that pipestud had listed. Today I opened that 2014 tin and wow! I have never smelled such a realistic strawberry jam scent from tobacco. Pure lemon, strawberry jam dark fruits. What a fantastic tobacco! Utterly smooth, sweet, lemony, sour and fruity floral. It has the barest of that oriental funk note. Malty, slightly woody and astringent as you get to the bottom of the bowl. It is easy to smoke, even when pushed you don‘t get ashy flavors. This is a winner for me. I will be buying more to cellar. My only complaint is I wish it had more nicotine. I find it very mild.

I literally Brunello Flake and stocked quite a bit if it. But I don't find it Oriental forward.
Agreed. The oriental is condimental in that blend to me. It is a fine blend - yet another I would happily buy in bulk, but it does feature some of my favorite tin art.

As for oriental forward, Robert Lewis Orcilla, Rattray's Red Rapparee, and Peretti Tashkent & Royal are my go-tos.

Oriental forward you say...try Temple Bar (Old London Series)..if this doesn't do it for ya nothing will. Sour Orientals from begging to end, no joke. I really enjoy Brunello flake as well, I like the laid back Oriental vs the in your face slap yo mama kind! Enjoy!

Agreed but the orientals increase in strength in the last third of the bowl. In the begining they are a whisper, but by the end I can definitely taste them in the retrohale.

I never said you can't taste them. But it's not Ann Oriental forward blend which was the thread topic.
Damn you are right, this thread was old so I had forgotten the thread topic. I found it again by just searching for Brunello Flake since I had opened a tin.

I can only suggest Skiff Mixture.
The only real sort of Oriental blend I've tried but I've realised they are not my thing.
Or am I off the mark with that suggestion?
I got really sour, woody, musty flavour from it, I remember the first bowl I had, I swear the aroma smelt like something else people smoke for recreation/relaxation..?
Either way I still think it is an excellent quality blend regardless of my preferences.

C&D John Marr, Dreams of Kadath, Sunday Picnic, and Sun Bear if you don’t mind a very slight to medium topping. Visions of Celephais if you don’t mind a heavier topping. Their Oriental Silk is a very good one with no topping. Sometimes I also smoke their straight Izmir or mix it 1:1 with Sutliff 515 RC-1. D&R Ramback Balkan is discontinued, but it was good, albeit a little “one note” compared to their other blends. I hear it really opens up with some age though.
I know you said no Latakia, but if you ever decide to try a really Oriental-forward English/Balkan, GLP Spark Plug is excellent.

Virginia and Oriental? I've tried Sam's Flake and Bijou, both of which were high quality and which I liked at first, but without some Latakia for balance they eventually both came to seem (to me) a bit too floral.

If you can bear a proportionally small amount of Latakia, there's Orcilla and even better, the excellent Samuel Gawith's Skiff Mixture.
