I love this place; visit every time I'm in Boston. Not only are Cambridge Flake and Royal the finest tobacco blends made anywhere in the last several decades (I'll fight you over this 😂), sometimes they can hook you up with former favorites for nostalgia's sake.

Shameless plug for Peretti's. Y'all should buy something from them. (Just not all of my Cambridge flake. I live in fear of the day they run out of the Xanthi. 😁)20221128_155933.jpg

Been going to Peretti for more than 50 years. You really cannot go wrong with any of their house blends. Royal was always a special favorite of mine when i smoked mostly English blends. oriental 40 too. For a change of pace try Boston's Best Cavendish, a great lightly aromatic blend with just a touch of honey.

Australia
Brick and mortar stores have pretty much completely disappeared down here in Australia, so the thrill of stepping into your local tobacconist and surveying their wares is now unobtainable. However, I still get a real buzz when the mail arrives with a bag of tobacco that I have purchased off the internet. For example, this morning I await the arrival of a 50 gram tin of Peterson's Early Morning Pipe. It is the first time I've ever sampled this particular tobacco so I'm pretty excited to dip into it!!! Perhaps my fellow pipers will better understand my excitement when I say, as I have in other parts of these forums, that this tin of EMP set me back AUD$130... Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!!! I look at Stearmandriver's photos at the top of this discussion with unmitigated envy!! Nonetheless, I think it is important to keep a hold of that small piece of joy that purchasing tobacco can bring...

Peretti's in Boston is right up there with Iwan Ries in Chicago and Blatter and Blatter in Montreal for destination pipe shops. Nat Sherman on 42nd Street in NYC is long gone. There are quite a few smaller shops scattered across the country with that same flair and essence. Pipes by George in Raleigh, N.C., is one of those.
