I very rarely respond to 'look at my new pipe' posts. But I will make an exception in this case. It took my breath away the moment I saw it. Utterly gorgeous!

There are various aspects I like about Cayuga pipes and that tempt me: The old time oil curing, the relaxed appealing well-balanced designs, the handmade sourcing, and not least of all their crafting in Flint Michigan, a city that has a had a truly difficult time with its water supply and needs any boost we can give it. That pipe is a real charmer, and I notice they have both appealing straight and bent pipes and various price levels. I have many pipes, so I try not to succumb, but I keep visiting the site.

Having been to the shop, I can attest to the fact that they have some beautiful pipes. And at very reasonable prices. My son picked up a beauty of a bent pipe for $65.00 with a very nice looking Birdseye grain to it. (Maybe I can get some pictures this weekend.) I will also point out that these guys are a pipe shop, not a photography studio. The photos on their website are not as nice as their actual stock. If you give in to your PAD, I don’t think you will be disappointed. I would suggest calling and asking questions about specific details like bowl dimensions.
I would also suggest asking about their offerings to feed your TAD. They have been around for 90 years after all.
And yes, Flint has had more than its fair share of troubles. The water problem is only one of the difficult issues that they face.

I find plateau somewhat char resistant. Like any briar, it will char, but I think the rough texture distributes the heat so chars less or not at all if you give it a chance.
