I didn't realize the second photo was a puppy next to the bird. I was thinking "damned bird exploded!" Then noticed no blood. Had to take a second look.

I had a dove when I was a child. It was very friendly. You might want to take that one in to a vet to see if it has coccidia. Might be able to make a pet out of it.
