The studio I'm working in to finish my Cthulhu sculpture, which MUST be finished by Monday, turned out not to have the proper black and green stains I needed, to my surprise. So I ordered, this past Saturday morning, the appropriate stains through 2 day mail, assured it would reach me by this coming Monday. I get an email tracking delivery stating the package wouldn't arrive until Tuesday, a day too late. Did I get had, or did UPS make an error? I'm in serious trouble if those stains don't arrive tomorrow. Is there a chance they will?

If you're referring to USPS Priority Mail it's 2 - 3 days (not guaranteed).

If you really needed it by Monday your best option would have been Priority Mail Express which is guaranteed 365 days a year, albeit much more expensive. I know that doesn't help you now, but just stating the facts.

I just got some good news. The sculpture doesn't have to be fired Monday, and is indeed still too moist to be fired yet. I have until Friday. So I pick up the sculpture, speed up the drying with a room heated with a space heater, then take it down to the studio for bisque firing. Then I apply the stains and take it later in the week for final firing. So everything should work out.

Amazingly, the package arrived today, two days before it was scheduled to arrive. So I'm now safe in that area. But now my ceramics coach tells me the sculpture itself is still too moist for firing! Can't win for losing sometimes. Thought about taking the sculpture home and placing it in a room with a space heater, but the idol is so delicate with tentacles that I'm afraid to move it.
