This thread reminds me of the time, many years ago, when my brother first moved into his condo. He called me to tell me he was looking out the window at a full grown cougar in his backyard off the patio. I immediately said "Well, you'll have to send your wife out for the paper then" ... Unfortunately, he neglected to tell me I was on speakerphone. She started yelling, the cougar got scared and ran away and it took me several years to make up for that joke !. :ROFLMAO: Live and learn ... I now ask if i am on speakerphone.

Yep, at the time the fur was worth about $60, and I doubt the trapper was going to eat it.
I'm all for subsistence hunting, and even trophy hunting if the hunter eats the meat.
But killing animals solely for profit, isn't my thing, and I can't sit back and observe it either. But that's just me.
Eating makes all the difference to me. Or at least something highly practical.
I feel the same way. One additional aspect, some people eat song birds. I feel like if you can't get a full meal out of one of the animals that's going too far for me to feel right about it. A cow or deer or even rabbit will give several people a meal. Feels like a fairer equation to me.

Leg traps are to food procurement what bullfighting is to food procurement.

Prolonged torture.

Humans didn't invent the requirement that all life forms must consume other life forms in order to survive/exist, but how we go about doing that IS in our control.

Shot with a firearm or zapped with a captive bolt gun is one thing.... Randomly clamping a chunk of iron to an animal's leg for hours (or days) is quite another. I have come across traps where an animal finally chewed its own leg off to escape.
