I do it all the time. I have a "dump" bucket for the last little bits in tins, or spill from packing. I also keep jars of Perique and latakia on hand to mix in with blends when I want a little more of those notes. I find a lot of local house blends that are oriental or english don't have enough backbone for my liking.
