The new Penguin Publishing Maigret paperbacks sell for about $10-15 on Amazon. So, $7.00 is cheap. Is $7 a lot for a book?
If you read my first post, I'm not complaining...it's actually funny. To be fair, the post office has been hammered by the volume of packages over the last couple of years. Likely due to the sniffles phenomenon & people doing lots of online shopping now. - That said, UPS delivers packages to me on the US West Coast from Europe & they arrive in 3days. I don’t recall them losing a package over the last 10 years. I did notice their usual brown truck may be replaced by a U Haul van or a rental SUV however. Shipping volumes have been so heavy- especially during the Christmas season- that they didn’t have enough brown trucks to cover it I was told by a driver.
5star,I was actually referring to my own posts on regarding packages taking a tour of the USA. That is happening now. For some odd reason this happens with every order I place with this one company in the Midwest. I dunno why
No need to apologize. I’m thick skinned & know the interwebs don’t convey intent like face-to-face conversations.5star,
I want to apologize for my response to your post this morning. I thought you were referring to my original post. I jumped the gun and for that, I'm sorry.
Exactly. I've received packages in the past with more than half of the old label still attached.and more address errors from old bar codes/labels/etc.
Had a similar incident recently. I mailed, via USPS priority mail, required information for a PA license to Tennessee. Instead of 3 days it took 7 days to arrive at the post office in the city in Tennessee where it was to be delivered to the recipient. I figured no big deal but from there it was forwarded to Nashville, then to Nebraska, on to 2 cities in Oklahoma, back to Nashville, then to Lexington Kentucky, back to Nashville and on to its destination in Brentwood Tenn. This epic journey took fourteen days. I've Learned my lesson, from now on I will use Fedex or UPS or better yet I'll drive to Tennessee because I could have been there in about eighteen hours driving time..First, let me start by saying I'm not complaining. I actually think this is funny.
I purchased a new Maigret book for $7.00 (free shipping) on ebay. In the past eleven days the book has traveled from Hot Springs AR to Memphis TN to Chicago (1 hour from my house), to Des Moines IA to Chicago again to Billings MT and is currently in transit to it's next destination.
It's a cheap paperback book and I can wait, I have others to read...it's amusing. If this was a pipe/tobacco or anything else of some value, I wouldn't be laughing.
That was funny! Well done.I made the mistake of ordering a new armchair online. Not since the days of Barnum & Bailey has anyone seen such a tour of this great land.
