My wife has a garden cart that’s maybe twenty years old, and the tires are bad on it. They hold air, but not for very long.
Being Scots Ozark I hate throwing anything away, so I looked online for replacement tires, and you can buy new wheels and tires for those, for about seventy dollars. That’s less the $20 per wheel and tire.
But instead I bought a newer, bigger, heavier cart for $85.
It came in a huge, heavy box and required assembly. I couldn’t ship the box full of rocks to China for $85, but somehow we take such economic miracles for granted.
But I looked up and for less than twenty bucks I can buy new tubes for my old cart and have a pair of garden carts.
My father was a prosperous farmer who owned 320 acres and rented 170 more across the road and he lived his entire life, with one wheel barrow for honey do jobs.
He only had one tool set, as well.
We spend little amounts of money on things our fathers did without.
I cannot count all my tool sets.
But there’s always a socket missing I need, you know?
