I received a tin of this as part of a trade. Wasn't really looking forward to it, but I figured what the heck, I'll give it a shot. The can states it is a unique Virginia blend toasted into a deep black tobacco and is flavored with a new special sweet but yet complex aroma. Upon opening the tin it was a very very black tobacco that seemed to be a thicker chunkier ribbon cut. The aroma was slightly lacking but a hint of sweetness. Can't really pinpoint the aroma. I didn't find it very flavorful and definitely not complex, BUT was very simple and enjoyable. Was nice as an early morning smoke with a cup of coffee. The bowl never got hot and the smoke remained cool which is typically something that is hard for me. I'm not going to rush out and buy another tin, but with probably add a tin to my next order to cellar away.

Thanks for the review. I've bypassed ordering this my last two TAD orders, but I'll be getting it next time around.

Black is my favorite of the 7 Seas line and one of my favorite aromatics in general, although I do tend to favor Stokkebye's Dansk Black more which is similar but slightly sweeter.
I should mention, I didn't really care for either of these when I first tried them (or any aromatic for that matter) but I discovered that if you smoke them in a pipe with a large chamber, the flavor comes out in full force! (Of course YMMV).

I have a tin. Smoked one bowl and the tin seemed to seal itself again. It was alright. Upscale Capt Black. A worthy crowd pleaser (based on one smoke) but I won't buy it again (especially not at $16 a pop here in NY).

Love the Black Blend. To me it's kind of a 1Q aromatic, it's difficult to pinpoint the flavor casing but it's a great tasting and wonderful burning blend that could be enjoyed all day long. Another thing I like about it is the Black Blend tends to burn longer on average than other blends for me, so when I want to spend a few hours puffing away I'll reach for the Black Blend.

I've got an unopened tin I bought last year, waiting to finish off some bulk and tine before opening another one.
Thanks for the review! Can't wait to try it.

I got some in a recent trade and it's quickly become one of my favorite smokes. I'm gonna have to find some more and keep it in my regular rotation. Additionally, the wifey LOVES the aroma so that never hurts.

7 Seas Black is one of the few aros I smoke. If it is too overwhelming then tone it down a bit with a little PA or CH

BTW one side note, it does come rather moist regardless of if you buy it in the tin or in bulk. Drying time is more than likely required by most smokers. I suggest, if you pick it up, to load a bowl and let it sit for thirty minutes to an hour before sampling it. Then if you enjoy it, just leave the lid off for an hour or so to dehydrate the rest of the tin a bit to get the moisture level better for the entire blend.
