Counterfeiting will now commence somewhere IMO.

Harriet, it surprised me as well. For the life of me, I can't figure out how he could afford those Grabows. Perhaps he was trying to impress me to make a point. As for the financial lifespan of these pipes as "investments", like a lot of recent developments, only time will tell. It's like the market for super old tobacco. It' a fringe section of a fringe section of a fringe section. All this reminds me of the tulip craze.sabble, it does surprise me a bit that someone would say it smokes like a Grabow. Now if he said it smoked as well as a Rad Davis or similar quality pipe, that would not surprise me, but a Grabow, that I find a bit much.
The counterfeiting has already started. Two years ago there was a long and lively thread relating to an eBay seller who was listing fake Danish pipe, among them a "Nordh". That "Nordh", which was a really clumsy fake, sold to some putz for $8300. The other pipes were pulled from eBay after Marty Pulvers, amongst others, got involved in the fray. The seller is still on eBay, representing Chinese factory pipes and the occasional bit of something else. With all of this money attached to certain names, it makes counterfeiting very profitable as buyers and sellers are pretty gullible.Counterfeiting will now commence somewhere IMO.
