My largest order of a single blend was 30oz. It was a Christmas purchase of newminster's 403 superior round slices.
I have never tried it before but from what I heard it was very similar to blends I have tasted and I am very happy with that purchase.
I jarred all but 2-3oz for my leisurely smoking.

I could see buying 5 pounds of SJF that stuff would never dry out unless you left it out in the open air...

I purchase five pounds at a time of my C&D Blends that I created, However, I would not recommend purchasing five pounds of any blend unless you are sure that you will want to smoke it!

I have bought 5lb bulk of SG SJF in the past. Usually my purchases aren't that large but this one was out of stock for a while at the and I wanted to get a few jars of this tasty flake in the cellar.

Andrew - It's good stuff. Recently I've revisited my favorite Lat blends, and they just don't hold a candle to Star of the East. I'm talking about blends like Abingdon, Charing Cross, Odyssey, Gas Light, Legends, Wilderness, Lagonda, Westminster, Balkan Sasieni, Squadron Leader, Penzance, Margate, Red Repparee, Black Mallory, Highland Targe, Pirate Kake, etc. While all of these are not directly comparable, they are mainly Lat forward blends. But none of them match Star of the East IMHO.

Never ordered that much of any blend. Once got a pound of a tobacco that really wasn't for me. Bought that much because so many loved it. Ended up selling it off and getting a nice pipe and another 1/2 pound of tobacco out of it. I'd consider buying that much of a couple tobaccos I love but since they don't come in that size, I'll have to stick to 2oz tins.
