25 year old tin, any advice?

Good afternoon Briar Buds, hope y’all are well today. Gorgeous day in da Carolinas. I stumbled upon an old B&M store and found they had some “estate” tins from an old customer. Poor guy seems to be in assisted living now and is prohibited from smoking a pipe, at least on the campus, so I’m thinking of finding out where he is and maybe taking him out for lunch & a pipe. .

My question to the wise pipers here (wise cracks included) is this; should I just open this tin and try it or is there something I don’t know to properly enjoy such an old Backy?

Being a lurker for quite a while so I expect varied responses….like

1-Quit your yapping, open it and smoke it already!

As mentioned if you wanted to sell the most recent sale on tinbids was $150 for 2oz can just like yours. Made in 2002. If you wanted to get other things with the money etc.
Review of the tobacco if you just want to open up and smoke it.

Amazing. I picked up two tins of vintage Hermit Tobacco Works from the late 1990s and early 2000s that look just like that at the Indiana Pipe Show a few weeks ago, and have every intention of smoking them myself. Though I am half-tempted to check the market, as my wife looks at me askance every time I get another box of tobacco in the mail...

a local guy on here found a 1953 tin of Revelation. i met him at McCranies and we opened it and smoked several bowls.

Aged tins taste and smoke very differently after opening and letting breathe for a week or 3.... So crack it open and smoke a bowl straight away then see how it is after a bit of time. It's part of the fun!

only thing really to consider is that after a long enough aging time supposedly the tobacco can degrade at an accelerated rate compared to a new tin once opened. I don't know if what you have counts for that. But check the quality and if it seems to be going south smoke as much of it as you can before it loses flavor and structure. If it doesn't do that just do whatever you normally do with tobaccos.

This is genius, I think I’ll pop it smoke it and if it’s as good as it sounds I’ll keep trying to find the older gentleman whose tobacco it was! What a treat for him if it can come to fruition, he’ll get a break from the “campus” and get to smoke tobacco from his own cellar! Fantastico! I may have to wait till the 31st like Ziv said! This way it’s precisely 25 years old
