Yeah, you probably already know--this year's Christmas Pete's are out, with a simple but radical designs tweaking classic models with a dramatic contrast of a cream color stem. Looks like it time for me to knock over some kids for their lunch money. Sure glad I got the old customer's 5 percent discount at SP. It ain't much but it takes some of the financial bite.

For some reason, I've yet to get a Peterson Christmas Pipe. It seems this time of year I'm usually holding my money for something else. But although I'm not normally a fan of the stem set up they're using this year or the blasts, these actually look quite nice. I may try and snag one this time around. In the meantime, I'm also waiting on my yearly tradition of these... http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/peterson-saint-patricks-day-2018-preview?replies=1#post-1144005

Mark did a short blog entry on them this summer. I do like the White stems, but these all have funny looking things at the end of the stem.

I rather like the X11 shape--is that the Sherlock Holmes you were speaking of? I tried a black one before, and found smoking it sent smoke right up my nose when clenching, so I'm not sure this is the right pipe for me.

I got, however, the106 version, strangely not photographed in your link. However, if it's still around in a couple of months, I may try to get the X11--my collection seems impoverish with only a 221 full bend and the rest being straights or half-bends.

I purchased one from Smokingpipes.com last night (Peterson 106) and am awaiting its arrival. I haven't been a fan of the designs in recent years but the white swirl and dark red rustication were a winner in my book. Further, I also like the Savinelli Christmas design this year. I just might have to pick one of those up too.....yikes! I feel the PAD coming on quickly. Cheers!

My thoughts and rationale as well. At this time, like the flu, PAD is irresistible, especially with the striking Peterson designs for this season. I got the 106 too.

I looked through all the different shapes, compared the dimensions, found the specific example of each shape that I though had the best grain and blast, lined them up side-by-side for comparison, and made my decision - none of them excited me enough to spend the $112. But, it's always fun shopping for a pipe.

Nice change of pace on these. I'd found the Pete holiday pipes tending toward repetitious, but the white stems and blast, still within sight of a $100 price tag makes these likely to sell well. I see someone has already ordered a 106, so there is at least one straight pipe offered, but bent pipes seem to predominate.

Bought an 03 and it's winging its way North as we speak.
I quite like the stain and stem combo, and the blast work and grain alignment actually looks like someone thought about it this year.
I am excited to see the pipe in person.

The XL11 has a spectacular blast on mine--it looks like a flesh-life surface. As is the 106: both are striking smokers as well as well blasted. Too bad there isn't a 107, but I suspect the 107 is extinct, or only done on special marques like the Drac. (Which represented my introduction to Peterson long ago.)
