Sorry fellow pipe brothers but i was wondering if this would strike an interest.I hope it's not to early for this and please forgive me if it is.What would be your top ten picks of tobacco as it stands right now.I know its only april but being a newcomer to the sport this is how i kinda gauge some good baccy to try and i love hearing about everyones favorites as they usually have a brief story behind why they like and enjoy certain tobaccos.I haven't even tried ten tobaccos yet so i can't give you my favorites.I know theres going to be some new tobaccos coming out but if you would do the honors and give it a go i would appreciate it.Happy puffs.

Hmmm.... Top 10, I have more like a Top 50 list, lol! But I'll try to list just 10.

    G L Pease

    McClelland

    Sillem's

    Dunhill

    Solani

    Reiner

    Heinrich

    Wessex

    both Stokkebyes

    several other Dan blends

    many C&D offerings

and innumerable miscellaneous stand-outs, like Escudo!
Is this the Golden Age Of Tobaccos, or what?!

Seriously, a list of top 50 blends is not unrealistic -- and I don't even smoke Latakia and Lakeland scented blends!

Mind you, I'm omitting a lot of brands I routinely smoke but don't consider "top notch", like P.A., Angler's Dream,

Newminster's selections, Sail, Skandinavik, Troost, IRC, Altadis match blends, etc.

In my pipe smoking ‘career’ I have evolved from smoking solely aros to English blends (Latakia/ Virginias) and American English blends (Latakia / burley) to VAs and VAPERS to burley blends. I now consider myself a Burleyophile. I still smoke ‘em all, but for every one bowl of VAs, VAPERS, Latakia blends and bombs, I’ll smoke three or four bowls of burley blends. As such, I am listing some of my favorite burley blends. Granted, many true burley blends do contain VAs, and possibly perique, etc. And some burley blends also contain Latakia but it is very much in the background, i.e., I would not consider these American English blends.
Cornell & Diehl:
Big n’ Burley

Burley Flake #3

Exhausted Rooster

Lunchtime Blues

Night Train

Pegasus

Riverboat Gambler

Old Joe Krantz
MacBaren - HH Old Dark Fired
Pipes & Cigars - L J Heart Burley
G L Pease - Jackknife Plug
Park Lane - Fireside
Uhle’s – Blend 00
John Patton / 4noggins - Storm Front

I'm still a noob, and right now I'm trying to get through a backlog of samples that I ordered early on in order to justify adding things to my rotation.
That said, there are a few blends that have earned a spot as "regulars":

1. Lane 1-Q (local variant, "Victorian Standard")

2. Molto Dolce (wife approved)

3. Prince Albert (ditto)

4. Escudo

5. Luxury Bullseye Flake

6. Black House
The other 4 slots in the Top Ten will likely include a lighter English and a more robust English blend (still exploring, haven't settled on a particular blend yet), and possibly some Virginias once I have an opportunity to experiment with them. I'd put Sugar Barrel on the list, but it's been discontinued, so I'm going to have to ration my stash until someone resurrects it...

I do smoke others from time to time including GLP Haddo's Delight, Escudo, Dunhill English blends, MacBaren stuff, McClelland stuff but more often than not, those ten are what I'm reaching for.
