2014 Briary of Birmingham Annual Event With Eric Nording

Hey guys wanted to update you on the Annual Event held at the Briary in Birmingham, AL. Every year in February the Briary which is one of the coolest pipe stores in the country hosts an annual event featuring a guest pipe maker. This year it is Eric Nording. They also normally have a slow smoke contest and the year I went, the winner got a Nording pipe. The following is the message from Skip the owner. I'll be there along with Politicalmonster.
This is our 40th year and our old friend Erik Nording will be here to show his wares plus meet and greet. Most of you will enjoy getting your picture made with this icon of the pipe world. Erik is the most successful pipe maker of all times and one heck of a nice guy. He will be here all day Saturday February 15.

Many of you will remember Mike Schaefer. He has been telling the attendees of our events about Villiger`s tobaccos for several years. Now he is working for Lane Ltd and will have plenty of blends to check out.

Heath Hill from Rocky Patel will be on hand to assist and educate every one on his fine cigars. I expect that he will have some great deals.
I went two years ago and Nording was the guest then as well, man the pipes were amazing, he brought a bunch and they were all laid out for handling. My buddy Joel bought his first high end pipe and Eric engraved it for him. Here is a pic of us with Eric Nording.

What an exciting event for pipers. I bet you'll get some people driving good distances to attend.

Nording is not only a major pipe carver but is a public figure for pipe smokers. He is really a master

of many forms, from high end freehand and traditional pipes to the guiding hand for his economy

Eriksen pipes which are among the best at their price level. He's a guiding hand. I know you

couldn't talk to him, and stand around and listen to him without learning a lot about the history

and future of pipes, and the philosophy and craft that goes with them.

Yes, very exciting! Wish we had a B&M of that magnitude around here. I smoke a couple of Nordings. In fact, I had a broken tenon on one and sent Erik an email, which he personally replied to suggesting what to do. I might have to fly in for this and also dine at the Hot & Hot Fish Club in B'ham.

Yeah it is a neat event. Last time I went I basically just stood drooling over the pipes and set my eye on a Nording Bear, but the PAD $$ just wasn't there. But thanks to good friend Bradley, I get to go and smoke my Bear at the event.

Cool, I missed this post when it came out. The Briary is my home away from home, and I am excited about this, especially in meeting Nording. I saw the winning pipe with matching handmade knife the other day, and wow!! I am boning up on my slow smoke skills.
I am the other redhead with a beard, a little taller than Skip, LOL.

Cool didn't know what the prize was going to be. Last time it was a very nice pipe but a pipe knife set makes it all the more interesting.

Got a trip to The Briary on my to-do list. I'm about 2.5 hours away. Look out boys, Tupelo is coming to visit.

I usually go through Birmingham on my way home on leave. I'll have to stop in there when I head that way in July
