While straight billiards is the 2nd most numerous shape amongst my pipes (after straight Bulldogs), these are the first Lovats for me.
I had, and still have, little love for Canadians, Liverpools and lumbermen
But my interest in Lovats was picqued by a not too recent thread on Blakemar Sir Douglas pipes.
The smaller of the two is a NOS Orlik Prince Regent.
I love the slightly tapered shank - looks very elegant.
The size is at a sweet spot for a shortish smoke.
The larger is an estate GBD with a brass rondelle.
Even though the vendor had stated its dimensions, I wasn't expecting such a large pipe -easily a size 5 bowl.
I prefer the slightly shorter shanked Lovats to the long(er) shanked variants
