Just acquired 'very cheaply', a 1950's Kaywoodie Super Grain Billiard with a saddle bit...however, it was missing the stinger.
I didn't know that at the time because the bidding was almost over, and no time for questions...so I took a chance, it was dirt cheap.
Now I love Kaywoodie pipes, and in fact I don't know why I bother to buy any other pipe, I must stop wasting my time on inferior (to me) pipes
But now getting to the smoking sans stinger....so far I don't like it at all.
I know it's only one bowl, and my opinion may change, but so far...stinger all the way!
I will admit the draw is a little bit easier, but seeing as how I never had an issue with the draw before, this becomes a non-issue with me.
The smoke is not as cool to me sans stinger, and I can definitely notice more tar ... so I will make sure that in the future my Kaywoodie pipes have the famous (to me anyway) stinger.
Well, that is my opinion anyway.
Ranger6 Out.
