1940s Ads Pt. 1 - PIC HEAVY

Found a bunch of ads in my small collection of Popular Mechanics magazines from the mid-late 1940s. I'll upload in two parts to make it a little easier for people to load the page. I noticed that my Popular Science magazines from the same time period were devoid of any tobacco ads, which is mildly interesting.

I wonder why the PS magazines had nothing. The issues I've seen from the 50's and early 60's had pipe and tobacco ads. A mystery.

Few things make me happier than old-timey adds - and not just for the pipes and tobacco! There were so many bizarre gizmos back then. I'm sure we may look back in 40-50 years and make the same comment.

No problem, wasn't much extra work for me. Doing some design research, using the old ads as inspiration! I love them too.

Looks awesome actually. Small, effective enough. Great for little postage stamps. Probably was difficult to maintain all those spinny death wheels.

My RSS feed for this section apparently wasn't working - so I missed the recent updates.
I love seeing those old ads. I have some "Pipe Lover" digital magazine scans that have a ton of these kind of ads. I'll have to upload some.
I work in urban NJ/NY a lot. I've gone to some of those addresses, like the one listed for Weber. Most are just decrepit buildings in what is now, a really bad part of town (Jersey City/NJ). It's pretty sad to think of how they must have looked in the hey-day.
