That is an awesome refurb. Enjoy the fruits of your hard work!
@jpm- it looks like that bowl would hold a butt load of tobacco, a butt being, IIRC, twice as much as a hogshead.

Thanks for the kind words, fellas, and for sticking with the post until the end.
Looks like the chamber can hold a _____ load of tobacco.

It's a smallish pipe. The approximate dimensions...
Length (diagonally from the front of the bowl to the button): 4.95 in. / 126 mm

Bowl Height: 1.65 in. / 42 mm

Bowl Width: 1.29 in. / 33 mm

Chamber Width: 0.76 in. / 19 mm

Chamber Depth: 1.46 in. / 37 mm
Still, a good size bowl compared with the overall size of the pipe though. :puffy:

It's fun to watch people react to prime oldies like this. Many are surprised at how well lines were held as an EXPECTED thing, and how graceful those lines were. Antique-y and futuristically streamlined/swoopy at the same time.
Marty Pulvers has this pipe's big brother. A full-on BBB "Best Make" (meaning their top of the line) with sterling band. It has a bone screw stem instead of a push tenon because it's older (the screw needs a bit of timing, however), and overall the pipe is larger, but if Anthony's new girlfriend starts your motor, this one should too. :D
It's about halfway down the page:

History simply is, and must be viewed in the context of its time. All attempts to establish thoughtcrime by such puppets should be rejected.
I'm shocked!!! Someone else with uncommon sense...

Bump.
I think I missed this thread when it was posted. What outstanding research, Anthony (to say nothing of the restoration). I had no idea that the Umbria line went back that far. I thought it was from the late 20s at the earliest.
As for that College Point factory -- would that be the source for BBB pipes with faux* hallmarks reading "A F C" on the band, I wonder? I've seen two such BBBs (and just bought one last night) and I can't think of any other reason why they wouldn't have city and date letters, per British law.
Here's the one I just bought:

*People who actually know what they're talking about (e.g. Cosmicfolklore) will point out that any mark on silver is a "hallmark," whether it has official date letters or not. Still, "faux" seems to get the right point across.
