Just arrived - a 1908 Barling bent apple with a stem with an intriguing "chimney tenon extension". Orific bit.
Great condition for its age. Crisp stampings.

This pipe was posted recently under the "British Pipes" section ("Intriguing 1908 Barling") by @osiris01.
His photos are much more professional than my phone shots.

Wonderful! I've got a couple of 1912s - a Comoy and Loewe and was surprised how compact they were made back then - is this a compact as it looks? They are a joy to hold and light as feathers.

Thank you.
Jesse and Jon answered this same question in the original thread on this pipe -
"British Pipes - Intriguing 1908 Barling"
Here's the link to the thread:

Unfortunately, I searched Jesse's post for the words you gave me, not realizing that "British Pipes" was not part of the title.

Thanks again.

I just love old classic shaped pipes. Very nice!
When I returned to pipes a few years back I became interested in mortas and olive wood as alternatives to briar.

Then I discovered old Britwoods. Since then 90% of my purchases have been "classic" shapes - Bulldogs, Billiards (straight and bent), apples, princes and cuttys/Belges.
I guess I'm a lot more conservative in my tastes than I'd thought ?
