Hakchuma, that's cool, some pipes defy standard names or styles, so I called it that. But I only did that based on length since all of my Devil's (14) are short too.

Hakchuma, I love the short pipes and I really think the Devil Anse deal wasn't even a shape until The Hatfield's & McCoy's with Kevin Costner. I think short pipe with slight cant to the bowl is the shape style. BUT in reality when this pipe was made it was probably just a short billiard, so you are correct on that.

I never heard of one being called a Devil Anse 'til after the mini-series either. I think it's a fitting name, and the popularity of them certainly took right off. Do a Google image search for "Peterson Jap pipe" and you will see an iteration of the shape that existed in the early 1900's.
